The Dog and Gun has a wealth of History dating back approximately 100 years – Starting life as a mid-terraced house and converted in 1924 into the west side of the Pub which remains in its original layout.

The east side of the Pub was added in 1939 which was originally a sweetshop and after its closure a former landlord purchased the adjacent building and knocked through to enable extension of the Lounge Bar.

Decorating the Lounge Bar is a wealth of historic images covering Carlton Miniott and its local residents, some of whom were photographed as youngsters many decades ago still call in for the occasional tipple.

In the Car Park is a large oak tree which is protected under a tree preservation order has caused a split amongst local villagers after it was struck by lightning a few years ago and started to die off. Some locals believe that everything should be done to protect it while others would be happy to see it removed!
